Anchoring solutions for slope reinforcement and soil stabilization by Gripple
Our fellow Geotechnical Engineers might be aware of the recent Indian Geotechnical Conference, IGC 2022 held at Kochi, Kerala. The exhibition stalls at the conference were very interesting with vast applications over the field of Geotechnical Engineering. The model slope stabilization technique displayed at the Gripple stall is very engaging and caught the attention of many visitors. The current blog summarises the visit to the stall and provides an overview about the slope protection and soil stabilization methods proposed by Gripple.
Slope protection is one the major challenges in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. The most commonly used techniques are geotextiles, gabions, retaining walls, sheet piles, and cellular confinement etc. Gripple has come up with an innovative solution that combines the action of soil nailing and geotextile confinement as well for the slope protection and soil stabilization. The Gripple Terra-Lock system provides secure fixing and anchoring points for erosion control and slope reinforcement systems. They are designed to be ideal for promoting vegetation growth, enhanced mat contact, lightweight reinforcement, heavy load and long life applications. It acts to increase the factor of safety in design calculations and can be used with the following systems:
- Reinforcing slopes
- Mitigate slope failure
- Prevent formation of rills and gullies
- Protect arid slopes
- Eliminate wind erosion
